See the idea, then run it

Python, Step by Step is a picture-first route from one line of code to a small, dependable application. It assumes no previous programming experience. Every chapter begins with a simple visual story, turns that story into runnable Python, and ends with three small missions and a checklist.

The pictures make the first idea easy to hold; the code keeps it honest. The course begins with Python’s standard library so you can see what the language is doing before adding third-party packages. Later modules introduce project structure, testing, packaging, concurrency, and performance only after their foundations are visible.

How the course is organized

The six modules form one continuous path:

  1. Python Foundations establishes the execution, value, and control-flow models used everywhere else.
  2. Data and Collections gives you the vocabulary for organizing real information.
  3. Building Reliable Programs turns experiments into programs that validate input and preserve data.
  4. Modeling with Objects introduces object-oriented tools only after functions and collections are familiar.
  5. Professional Python adds lazy processing, resource management, tests, diagnostics, and packaging.
  6. Advanced Python explains runtime behavior, concurrency, asynchronous I/O, and evidence-based optimization.

Chapters are meant to be completed in order. All 24 chapters are published, and each chapter links directly to the previous and next lesson so you can follow the complete route without leaving the course.

Use the same tiny loop in every chapter

Look at the picture, say the idea in your own words, and run the complete example. Change one value, predict the result, and run it again. Keep each chapter’s project in its own file. Use the three missions for practice and the final checklist as a real test; if one box is unclear, return to the smallest example that shows it.

No special editor is required. A terminal, a plain-text editor, and a modern Python 3 installation are enough. The packaging chapters create an isolated virtual environment before installing anything into the local project.
